Black Paint Round Up

Choosing a black paint color may seem like a simple task, but there are many factors to consider to ensure you end up with the perfect shade for your space.  It’s a common misconception that black paint makes a room feel dark and small, but when it is done correctly it enhances the mood and richness of your space without effecting the perception of size! Read our tips below to ensure the use of black paint is done like a professional. Moody spaces are here to stay and we are here for it!

Undertone

Consider the undertones of the black paint you are choosing. Some blacks have blue undertones, while others may have brown or even green undertones.

Sheen

Next, think about the sheen of the paint. Do you want a flat matte finish or something with a bit of shine, like a satin or gloss finish? It’s typically always best to choose a flat finish on black walls to look more elevated in a space.  Black paint can look cheap real quick if not chosen or placed correctly!

Natural Light

Another thing to consider is the amount of natural light the space receives. If the room is well-lit, a deeper, richer black may work well. However, if the space is darker or lacks natural light, a lighter black with more gray undertones may look better.

Sample

Finally, it’s always a good idea to test out the paint color before committing to painting the entire room. Paint a large sample on the wall and observe it at different times of day to see how it looks in different lighting conditions. With these tips in mind, you can confidently choose the perfect black paint for your space.
