What To Expect: Trim Meeting
Meeting with Micah & Co to discuss all the trim details is an exciting step in the design process. Trim includes crown, moldings, baseboards, and other decorative elements that significantly enhance the overall look and feel of a home. We have 2- 1-hour meetings to get this accomplished. The first meeting is at our studio to cultivate the inspiration and trim packet and then an onsite meeting is scheduled with the builder and trim carpenter to communicate and measure for selected trim designs. Here is what you can expect from your initial trim meeting at the studio:
Preparation and Planning
Before the meeting, it is helpful to prepare by gathering inspiration. If we do not already have your trim inspiration, be ready with pictures or samples of designs you admire. This will give us a clearer understanding of your tastes and preferences.
Key Areas to Discuss
Style Preferences: Determine whether you prefer contemporary, traditional, or transitional trim styles.
Materials and Finishes: Discuss options for materials such as wood species, MDF and finish preferences like paint or stain.
Budget Considerations: Talk through budget for the trim work to ensure the selections are within your financial plan.
During Our Meeting
Discussion of Each Space
We will go room by room where the trim will be installed. Cabinet trim, base (base boards of your home), case (window and door casing), crown and any decorative accents are discussed. We have samples and/or pictures ready to present for you to understand and expand your knowledge of options.
Design Documentation
We will document all your selections on our Trim Packet to have prepared for our onsite walk to review with your builder and trim carpenter.
Finalizing Details
Measurements and Customization
At the onsite trim meeting accurate measurements are crucial with the trim carpenter to ensure the desired look. We will discuss any customizations, such as unique profiles or special finishes to make sure the right desired look is accomplished.
Next Steps
At the conclusion of the onsite meeting, we will make any changes needed to the trim packet and email everyone to get a quote for trim material with your builder.
An initial trim meeting at our studio saves a great deal of time, standing onsite, and gets a concise vision ready before we meet the builder to ensure accurate communication and quote. By discussing your style, reviewing options, and finalizing details, you will be on your way to enhancing your home’s beauty and character with thoughtfully designed trim work.
