So, how can you create a design that will be forever timeless while also keeping up with the trends?
Let’s start with what makes a design timeless:
When designing, I tell my clients that creating a “timeless” design is about discovering what speaks to you and your soul. Pieces that speak to you should be the foundation of your design. Then, you can add in the “trendy” pieces that bring you joy to the mix!
Accent pieces are like the sprinkles of your home's ice cream sundae.
They are meant to be exciting and to add visual interest to your space!
So, let’s talk about a few 2021 trends you can easily add into your timeless home.
Warm Colors
In the past, it was viewed as timeless to use cool colors, such as grays, in your home design. This is no longer the case. 2021 is bringing the heat! Creating an accent wall is an inexpensive and easy way to add this trend into your home! Include a warm colored accent wall like this:
Vintage Pieces
Have a vintage vase that belonged to a family member? Do you love unique candleholders? These are great examples of how to include vintage pieces into your timeless design. Mix in a little bit of old with a little bit of new!
Natural Textures
I love cane! Adding a small piece of it to the front of a dresser or credenza can take a timeless piece and turn it trendy! Natural textures like cane and pampas grass are excellent additions to a timeless design.
