2024 Color Chronicles: Each Paint Brand's Color of the Year

Let’s dive headfirst into the world of paint! We've scoured the collections of top paint brands to bring you the winning hues of 2024. Along with the vendor’s description of the color, I’ll give my 2 cents on each one, well, because they may be all it’s worth! Lol.

Benjamin Moore - Blue nova 825

Blue Nova 825 from Benjamin Moore is the first selection we will visit. This paint is described as a tranquil and uplifting blue-gray concoction brings a sense of calm and sophistication to any space. Picture yourself wrapped in a cozy blanket of serenity, and that's the vibe Blue Nova 825 brings to the table.

My 2 cents: Leans purple and that’s my personal least favorite color. It’s a cooler blue-purple and seems opposite of what I’m seeing most of my clients wanting.

Sherwin Williams - Upward SW 6239

Upward SW 6239 is the Sherwin Williams 2024 Color of the Year. Description: This powder blue’s masterpiece adds a touch of sophistication and calmness to your surroundings. It's like a cloudless sky on a perfect spring day, creating an atmosphere of pure tranquility.

My 2 cents: I love this color! It has depth, interest and a soft light blue that doesn’t feel baby blue.

HGTV Sherwin Williams - Persimmon

HGTV Sherwin Williams says it is embracing the fun and warmth this year with Persimmon. This lightened-up terra cotta hue feels like a scoop of sorbet in a sunny room. It's the ideal blend of earthy and vibrant, bringing a touch of playfulness to your space while keeping it grounded.

My 2 cents: Looks salmon and again very cool. It’s missing the depth of color I see most people desiring right now.

Behr - Cracked Pepper

Cracked Pepper by Behr is not your ordinary black. This soft grayish-black beauty comes with deeply hidden blue undertones, adding depth and sophistication to any room. It's like painting with shadows, creating an ambiance that's both mysterious and inviting.

My 2 cents: This is a great soft black and of course I love it, although there is a “trend” to move away from using black right now. I’ve never used it but just might! Here is a list of my favorite black paint colors.

Valspar - Renew Blue

Renew Blue from Valspar is described as a balanced-blue masterpiece with a touch of grayed sea green. This color sets a restful and meditative mood, inviting you to unwind and rejuvenate. It's the perfect backdrop for creating a tranquil oasis in your home.

My 2 cents: Any color that makes you think is a winner in my book, and this color does just that!

Glidden - Limitless

Say hello to Limitless by Glidden—a fresh warm hue that plays well with both cool and warm tones. Some might describe it as a warm honey beige, bringing a touch of coziness to your space. The possibilities with this versatile shade are truly limitless.

My 2 cents: Not seeing it here at all.

Dutch Boy - Ironside

Dutch Boy's Ironside is a deep and comforting green that exudes richness and sophistication. It's a color that adds dimension to your space, creating a sense of depth and coziness. Imagine being wrapped in the embrace of a lush, botanical haven.

My 2 cents: Love this color as an interesting moody green-brown moment. Brown is the new black.

Benjamin Moore - Edgecomb Gray HC-173

Last but certainly not least, we have Edgecomb Gray HC-173 from Benjamin Moore. This go-to neutral is a chameleon, refreshing any space and providing a warm, welcoming feeling. It's like a hug for your walls, creating an inviting atmosphere that stands the test of time.

My 2 cents: I truly believe white walls are out and creamy-taupe walls are in full swing. This color is very interesting and I bet would be beautiful in day or night for walls or a cabinet!
