What to Expect: Tile Meeting
Today, the Micah and Co. team wanted to bring you the next topic in our “What to Expect” series. This topic is a team favorite - tile! Selecting tile for your home can be intimidating, as there are numerous options in various price points available. We hope this “What to Expect” guide will give you insight as to what a tile selection meeting with Micah and Co. entails.
Meeting Preparation
Before we even schedule the tile selection meeting, a few key events in our process must occur. First, we will curate a Design Board for your home that includes all of the spaces in which tile will be selected. We ask that you approve this Design Board before our tile selection meeting, as this Design Board will guide our tile selection process. We also ensure your up-to-date floor plans are printed and in-hand ahead of the meeting. Lastly, our team will create a custom spreadsheet for your tile selections that will be shared with you, your tile store representative, and your contractor or tile setter, that way all who are involved are on the same page in regards to selections.
Pre-Selections Made by Your Designer
Before you arrive at the tile store, your designer will arrive ahead of your appointment time to make tile pre-selections. With the design inspiration for your home in mind, your designer will make selections that best match your vision. These selections will be available for you when you arrive.
Finalizing Selections
Once you arrive at the tile store, the fun begins! As we make tile selections, you will begin to see your home come to life right before your eyes! We make selections one room at a time. Each room will have the following items selected and notated on our tile selection form: tile name, photograph, size, color, grout, and lay information. If applicable, we will also notate Schluter or bullnose information, as well as niches and their placements. As each room’s tile is selected, we lay each selection out for you to see, along with the grout and Schluter. Over the course of the meeting, all of your tile selections will be laid together, allowing you to see your home’s selections as a collective.
After tile selections are made, we do a little bonus selecting! Because we are able to see the tile selections in-person during our meeting, we also select paint colors for your home at this time to ensure proper color matches.
Tile MAP
As all tile selections are being made, all the needed information is documented on our exclusive tile map. This “tile map” is then emailed to you, your contractor, and your tile store representative. A quote is then created for your selections by your tile store representative for your final approval before purchasing.
Tile can make a huge design statement in your home and we would love to help you bring that vision to life! Feel free to contact us to schedule your tile selection meeting with Micah and Co.!
