Micah & Co Design CONTRACT
At Micah & Co, we believe great design is both an art and a process. Our goal is to create spaces that reflect your lifestyle, values, and vision while providing clarity, organization, and joy throughout the journey. This agreement outlines the scope of our services, billing structure, policies, and mutual responsibilities.
By establishing clear expectations, we ensure that your project runs smoothly, your investment is protected, and our creative collaboration can flourish. We look forward to walking with you through each step of the design process and making your space truly exceptional.
Billable Design Time
Billable design time includes:
Face-to-face appointments
Phone consultations to review design
E-mails and text message correspondence when design selections are made
Independent work such as finish selections, furniture layouts, drafting of plans and elevations, etc.
If multiple locations require travel during a design consultation (e.g., furniture stores, project site, tile stores), that time is also billable. Travel time between locations is included.
Design Fee Options:
One-time on-site Design Walk (up to 3 hours): $1,500 - (one time design fee)
Initial on-site consultation for all design projects: $495 (applies to any new project, even for existing clients or locations)
Hourly design rate: $215 per hour, billed in 15-minute increments (*except 5 key meetings with new builds or remodels - see below)
Dual-Designer Meetings FOR NEW BUILDS & REMODELS
There are five key meetings that require two designers:
Design presentations
Pre-build meeting
Tile selections
Lighting selections
Cabinet and door hardware meeting
*These meetings are billed at $300 per hour, as the level of detail requires two designers to ensure accuracy, thorough documentation, and efficiency. This reduces overall billable time in the long run.
Scheduled Design Appointments
Design appointments are scheduled in advance to meet the needs of both designer and client.
If a client is late, they are responsible for the full scheduled appointment time.
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
Missed appointments or cancellations without proper notice will be billed in full.
Purchases for Clients
Micah & Co may purchase items on behalf of the client, with prior client approval. Billable time includes:
Order Fulfillment and Order Tracking.
Following up on orders and backorders/Reselections.
Coordinating deliveries and installations.
All purchases require payment in full prior to ordering if over $5,000. Micah & Co is not responsible for delays, damages, or defects caused by manufacturers, suppliers, or shippers, but we will assist in resolving issues to the best of our ability. Please note: Micah & Co does not share trade discounts. All merchandise is billed to the client at retail pricing.
Billing and Payment
Invoices are sent bi-weekly via QuickBooks and are due upon receipt.
Payments received more than 15 days after the invoice date will incur a 10% late fee.
Invoices outstanding more than 30 days may result in legal action.
Cancellation Policy
This Agreement may be terminated by either party with or without cause by providing written notice specifying the nature and extent of termination. Termination shall be without prejudice to any and all other rights and remedies of Micah & Co. Client shall remain liable for all fees incurred, all items of merchandise on order, warehouse receiving fees, and all services rendered as of the termination date. All design time, purchases, or services rendered prior to cancellation will be billed in full and are due upon receipt. Any merchandise or custom orders placed on the client’s behalf are non-refundable. Micah & Co reserves the right to retain deposits or fees already paid toward services or purchases as part of cancellation.
Liability
Micah & Co is not a contractor and does not provide construction oversight. If needed, we will recommend a licensed contractor. Micah & Co is not liable for contractor performance or workmanship.
Interior Design Drawing Sets
Drawings and specifications are conceptual and represent design intent only. They are not for architectural or engineering use.
Micah & Co does not provide architectural or engineering services, including structural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical design.
Clients must provide site access and all necessary project information. Clients are responsible for securing approvals and permits to ensure compliance with applicable codes and inspections.
Portfolio
Micah & Co reserves the right to showcase completed design projects on our website, social media, and other marketing platforms unless the client requests otherwise.
Hours of Operation
Our business hours are Monday–Friday, 9 AM–6 PM, excluding federal holidays.
