Behind the Scenes: Aurora Dental

Today’s blog will take a look behind the scenes of one of our recent commercial projects! Aurora Pediatric Dentistry is a new construction dental office located in The Village in Oklahoma City. Our very own lead designers, Lauren and Tessa, were brought on to the project during the plans phase, which gave them the opportunity to be involved from the start and see it through to completion.

We were very inspired by our clients when we started dreaming up their office! They’re young and fun, and we wanted to reflect their personalities in the space. We came up with the color palette and overall inspiration, then their creative agency, Robot House, came up with the logo and branding. Working in conjunction with Robot House, we were able to create a space where every detail reflects their brand personality. The logo wallpaper in the imaging room turned out cuter than we even imagined!

We were also inspired by the kids who would be coming into the office. We wanted it to be a comfortable space for all ages, from 1 year olds cutting their very first teeth, to 18 year olds getting their final clean from their pediatric dentist that they’ve grown up with. We used modern & graphic paint details to fill the space with color. The colors inspire a joyful, entertaining, and exciting space for kids so that the dentist office is a fun place to go. The whole office is interactive with toys, a child-sized brushing station, and every kid’s favorite, a prize wall full of treasures to take home!

From a design perspective, we used paint details to keep costs relatively low, while adding character to a new construction building. In what was originally planned to be a completely open space, we added arched openings to differentiate each bay as well as help with way finding. The oversized numbers pop off of the paint to make it easy for kids to find their way independently. To keep the office from feeling too sterile, we added stained wood elements throughout. From the wood slats on top of painted stripes behind the reception desk to the built in benches in the operatories, touches of wood help to create warmth.

We are so thankful to have had such kind and easygoing clients to work alongside throughout this build. Sometimes it can be like pulling teeth (pun totally intended) to get clients on board with our ideas, but they were open to everything and really let us execute our full vision. We couldn’t be more pleased with the result. We hope this will be a place that can make going to the dentist fun for kids & even their caregivers!
