When’s the best time to bring in a designer on a project?

The moment you think about it!  Bringing in a designer before any selections have been made allows everyone to be on the same page from the beginning.  -Lyndsi

How do you part ways with a designer if you feel like you are not a good fit, but the project has already started?

Open and honest communication is always your best bet! First, try letting your designer know what isn’t working for you. If talking through it doesn’t help, just let them know that you’ll be going a different direction. Unless you’re locked into a long term contract, then your designer will invoice you for any unpaid work and you can (hopefully politely) part ways.  -Lauren

I have a lot of sentimental items. Can you work those into a new design?

Gladly! We would actually prefer that you have some sentimental items because we want your home to feel like YOU! Bring on the tchotchkes, handmade gifts from your kids, or random souvenir your parents brought home from their travels. If you have antique furniture that’s been passed down through the family, we can work that in with more modern pieces. Whatever “must use” items you have, we can incorporate them in a tasteful way that fits your home and style. -Lauren

I have 4 kids. I would love to have a beautiful home, but I have to have things that are durable. Help!

While there are certain materials and fabrics that aren’t ideal for families with young kids, there are plenty of options that are! Most fabrics can be treated to be stain resistant, and there are plenty of countertops that can stand up to your teenage daughter leaving her straightener on all day (gasp!). While Kim K. might be fine with a museum house, we know that’s not what most of our clients want! We can point you in the right direction to ensure that your home is as durable as it is beautiful. -Lauren

How many hours does it take to design a new build?

This is a tricky one, and I’m gonna have to leave you with an answer that’s probably unsatisfactory to most of you: it depends. But hear me out! We can provide basic design boards that take about an hour per space, on average. From there, you are free to make all of the specific selections on your own, if you choose. When we meet for our initial consultation, we will provide you with a meeting schedule for all selections. You can hire us to help with every single selection, or just a few that you feel unsure of making on your own. While every house/client/budget is different, we can make it work for you! Just because you don’t have the budget to pay a designer for 100 hours doesn’t mean that you can’t incorporate a designer look into your space. We are very straightforward with our pricing. We will talk through it every step of the way so that you don’t get surprised by an invoice for work that you didn’t agree to. -Lauren

I would love to work with a designer, but can you help even if I don’t have the budget to buy all high-end, luxury items?

Absolutely! We can work with any budget. One of the best ways to stretch your budget is to choose just a couple items to splurge on, while saving on the rest! We are happy to help you find budget-friendly options to create a beautiful space, so don’t assume that a limited budget means you can’t work with a designer. -Lauren

I love to decorate, but I just need help pulling a few things together. Do you offer a service for that?

Absolutely!  Sometimes one consultation with our team can get you out of the “design slump!” Bringing a set of fresh eyes and inspiration may be all you need to get back on the right track with your design.  It is easy for the space you live in everyday to quickly be more about functioning in that you lose vision for the design.  This happens to all of us!  I seek inspiration from other designers for my own home on occasion . - Lyndsi
