What to Expect: Working with an Interior Designer

At Micah & Co, we not only will assist in the aesthetics of your home, but also will help you save time and money by avoiding expensive mistakes and oversights. We pride ourselves on getting to know each client to ensure their unique personality and tastes emerge.

In order to have a positive client experience, we wish to address and curb a three pain points we see the most often.

1.    Have Realistic Expectations

Design TV is prevalent and fun to watch. However, sometimes we forget that there is a full team behind the scenes working to achieve the deadline in record speed. Most projects have been planned months in advance and many of the unpredictable influences that can slow a project are removed. Unfortunately, in the real design world we can sometimes face human error, delays on products, longer than normal contractor wait times and cost prohibitive design wants. We do our absolute best to ward off any complications, and truly value each and every design opportunity.

2.  Price Shopping Is Not Our Forte

When we start working together, it is imperative that we break the ice regarding your project budget. This number should be reasonable and realistic for what you hope to achieve, and we greatly appreciate knowing if this budget is firm. At Micah & Co, we are mindful of your budget, but if you wish to see some “stretch” items, let us know. We strive to only show items that are within your set budget, however, it is a very inefficient use of your time and money to search for the absolute lowest price on each item that is sourced. Scouring the internet for comparable items at a better price may compromise the design integrity. We aim to work with and purchase from our trusted vendors whom we have built relationships based on their quality products and superb customer service.

3.  Communication is Key

If you have a question, please ask. We want you to feel informed and know that you are heard. Remember we do not typically work nights and weekends, nor are we on call. We prefer meetings to be set up to discuss any specifics pertaining to your project. This allows us time to switch gears and focus on you. Definitive opinions make our job easier, and we are thankful to have decisive clients.

For Micah & Co it is ALL about relationships. At the end of your project we hope that you would not only be satisfied but come back because your experience and design was beyond your expectations. Maybe we could even be friends… :)

Designers with a purpose,

Micah & Co
