What to Expect: Spaces and Places
Oh, the spaces and places walk! If there was a site visit that could set your build up for future success, it is this one. This meeting occurs before drywall has gone up, and is the last walk to make any changes regarding electrical, plumbing or structural before it gets too expensive and challenging to do so. We will go into all the details of this walk below:
Electrical
Wow, the impact intentional lighting can have on your home! During this site visit, we discuss sconce placement locations and heights. These light fixtures are typically hung at a standard height, but confirming the locations on site will allow us to perfectly place each fixture for maximum design impact. We will also discuss outlet locations throughout your home, along with the different outlet types and ways to make them function best for your family. Additionally, we will discuss switch locations, ensuring their function and placement for optimal use and design. It is important that outlets and switches function well for your lifestyle. For example, we will ensure you do not have to walk across a room to turn off a light fixture when a switch could be relocated or added for easier access. We will also ensure electricity is run for any motorized window coverings you may have and confirm thermostat locations throughout your home.
Structural
After all-things electrical are discussed, we will then discuss any custom structural elements in your home. Will you bullnose or do square case openings? Will you wallpaper or panel a room? Knowing and preparing for this before sheetrock goes up can save money and time.
Plumbing
Making sure all plumbing is correct is also addressed during this walk. Are all out of the wall faucets roughed in correctly? Have you checked the showers to ensure proper placement of plumbing and niches?
All of these elements make your home more feel custom. It is important to discuss all of these structural elements and how to best support them so your home looks incredible for years to come.
There are so many important decisions to make when designing your home. We hope that our process makes this decision making as seamless and effortless as possible. This walk sets your home up for success down the road, and is imperative to our successful design process.
